After 3 years he left KPMG to join the international food and beverage company, C&C Group Plc as Assistant Group Company Secretary and was involved in the company's successful IPO on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges. James trained and qualified with the international advisory firm KPMG in their Corporate Legal Advisory Services department. James also holds a Diploma in Legal Studies, a Diploma in Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring, a Diploma in Aviation Leasing & Finance and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators. James attended the Law Society of Ireland and prior to that attended and graduated from the Honorable Society of Kings Inns having previously obtained an honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway. James is a Solicitor, admitted to practice in Ireland and England and Wales. On the insolvency side James has advised a number of domestic companies throughout their insolvency process as well as providing legal advice to insolvency practitioners. In James’ early career he practiced as a Chartered Company Secretary James has built upon this experience and as a Solicitor has developed a specific expertise in tax driven corporate restructuring and succession planning for family businesses. representing an Irish lessor in connection with a €1 billion Eurobond issuance.advising as Irish counsel in relation to a warehouse financing facility in the amount of USD$500,000,000 and.advising as lead counsel in relation to the process of obtaining an Irish Air Operators Certificate (AOC) leading to the establishment of a new Irish airline.In particular James is very experienced on all aspects of cross-border aircraft financing and leasing including drafting and negotiating leasing, finance and security documentation as well as providing advices in relation to aircraft registration and the practical application of the Cape Town Convention. James is the lead partner in the firms Aviation and Asset Finance practice has a breadth of knowledge that spans the industry with experience ranging from drafting and negotiation of general terms agreements through to representing leasing companies on purchase, sale & leasing transactions from lease due diligence through to transaction execution. ![]() The aviation practice in Flynn O’Driscoll is very broad and comprises international and domestic clients from across the sector ranging from leasing companies, airlines, technical & maintenance organisations, paint shops, engine shops and spare parts providers. James joined Flynn O'Driscoll in 2007, he became a Partner in January 2014 and was elected Managing Partner in June 2019.
